Hilversum – Swiss radio station neo1 has selected OmniPlayer as their radio production software and playout system. After Radio Rottu Oberwallis and Radio Stadtfilter, neo1 is the third radio station in Switzerland to use the software by Dutch broadcasting solutions company M&I Broadcast Services.
Managing Director of neo1, Jüre Lehmann, is confident the choice for OmniPlayer is the best one for neo1: “OmniPlayer understands the entire radio landscape, from broadcast to streaming podcasts. We realised that to ensure our listeners can continue to fully enjoy the talent at neo1, we needed to step up our game. OmniPlayer technology is great: it’s very modern, scalable, agile and easy to deploy. With the use of future-proof solutions, such as listener playlist participation and the SmartTrack audio editor, OmniPlayer was the only logical choice for us.”

“We are very excited about our continued growth in Switzerland,” adds Peter van Klei, Commercial Director at OmniPlayer. “Implementing our intelligent OmniPlayer software at neo1 means a great deal to us, as it emphases our focus to cater to every radio station across Europe. At neo1, we sensed the will to embrace the opportunities our technology brings. In the future, our ‘Open Radio’, with add-ons such as thin clients, visual radio and a Spotify-integration, can be implemented very easily. We are fully committed to offering our knowledge and support to help achieve all their broadcasting goals.”
Micromedia, the OmniPlayer partner in Switzerland, played a great part in the implementation of the software. “We see strong interest in Switzerland for the OmniPlayer software,” says George Wismer, CEO at Micromedia. “The Swiss radio market clearly needs a product like OmniPlayer to modernize playout and add flexibility in the way radio is produced. We are proud to work with neo1 and our other Swiss customers to help achieve this.”
Since June, neo1 has aired all of their programs with the use of OmniPlayer without any problems. The radio station can be found and heard in the region of Bern, Langnau, Switzerland or online via neo1.ch, their web station.
Swiss radio station neo1 broadcasts pop, rock and ‘oldies’, 24/7. Besides music, the station focuses on the reporting of regional issues.
